The Real Story of Stealth Bulbs
Todd Staples, inventor of the original Stealth Bulb, is obsessed with the ultimate "Stealth Look".
Years ago, Todd had some clear lenses to put on his BMW. After installing them, he stood back to admire his work— he grimaced and muttered, "All that money and they look like damn egg yolks with the ugly yellow OEM bulb!" So like any obsessed mad scientist, he grabbed his trusty Dremmel and started customizing his brand new clear lens housings. However, after several months of failed experiments trying to eliminate the egg yolk look...a light bulb went off in Todd’s head!
Todd knew what he needed was an “Invisible” bulb! Sounds perfectly reasonable to an obsessed mad scientist. Todd set out on a mission to invent the perfect invisible yellow bulb. This way the clear lenses would be clear all the time when the blinkers were off. His crystal clear lenses would finally have the sleek STEALTH LOOK he had been after. After months of experiments and more than a few dead ends, Todd had a moment of inspiration—or madness—and blurted out, "My bulbs need SUNGLASSES!"
Fast forward to 2010, there are now tons of cheap knock-offs of the legendary Stealth Bulb.
